Preserve the joint.
We understand that living with joint pain can be immensely challenging. But you are not alone.
Our team of medical professionals and engineers are working tirelessly to provide you a biomimetic, Early Intervention Solution for Osteoarthritis. Our minimally invasive CyborGel® synthetic cartilage implant system is designed to mimic natural cartilage and is being studied to help you get back to the activities you love.

Formae's CyborGel Biomimetic Implant System
FDA Designated Breakthrough Device
Our procedure is designed to be minimally invasive, help provide pain relief, and to support a rapid recovery period, with the goal of enabling patients to walk unassisted the same day of installation.
How long does it last?
While medical trials are ongoing, results of our rigorous testing at Colorado State University are very optimistic. The durable CyborGel hydrogel is being studied for its potential as a early intervention and long term solution to progressive OA degeneration.
*GLP Mode I Knee Simulated Tribology:
CyborGel Synthetic Cartilage hits 10M cycles without progressive wear.

While transplanted cartilage (mosaicplasty) is subject to the same progressive disease degeneration—and thus only delays a Total Knee Replacement—CyborGel has withstood over 10M cycles (and counting) without any progressive wear. The average person walks 1M cycles in a year.
A Note from our Founder & CEO
“I have treated patients suffering from early Osteoarthritis every day for the past 25 years. I have long been frustrated by the limited treatment options for the painful progression of this disease. But you should not have to suffer needlessly waiting for enough deterioration to necessitate an invasive and expensive total joint replacement.
Closing this gap in treatment options became my focus as an Orthopaedic Resident at Harvard Medical School years ago. And now, after decades of work and innovation, I am honored to introduce Formae’s CyborGel® biomimetic Synthetic Cartilage Implant System as a promising investigational treatment option for early progressive Osteoarthritis.
Our state of the art hydrogel is the culmination of my experience as a surgeon and of 25+ years of rigorous technological and medical trials. We have worked to identify, verify and reproduce a tough, lubricious, biomimetic cartilage with a minimally invasive surgical implantation technique that is being studied for its potential to support stable bone healing fixation, and clinical longevity.”
IN SUMMARY:
CyborGel was designed as a minimally invasive procedure to support recovery, with the goal of enabling patients to walk unassisted the asme day of the procedure. Our team of medical professionals are at the forefront of Arthroscopic Research, employing and advancing state of the art surgical techniques.
Let’s review our goals:
⦾ Help resurface damaged articular cartilage with our biomimetic CyborGel® implant system to help support functional joint restoration.
⦾ Help provide pain relief from Osteoarthritic, bone-on-bone wear.
⦾ Help reduce progressive deterioration of synovial joints, thereby delaying the clinical need for a Total Joint Replacement.
Do you believe CyborGel could be a potential solution to your or your loved one’s suffering?

The huge gap in Early Intervention and Preventative Treatment options for Osteoarthritis leaves over 2 Million American patients delaying treatment every year while their quality of life rapidly deteriorates. Sound familiar?
Have you been encouraged to manage discomfort with painkillers or steroids until the excruciating progression of OA necessitates a Total Knee Replacement, an invasive procedure that costs you the entirety of your natural joint, upwards of $50K, and a 6 – 12 week recovery period?
Filling the treatment gap at long last, CyborGel’s bone-sparing Arthroscopic procedure is being studied to help provide pain relief and address Osteoarthritic progression, with the goal of preserving your natural joint and potentially delaying the need for a Total Joint Replacement.
Our CyborGel® Implant System consists of a biomimetic Hydrogel Synthetic Cartilage mounted on a Trabecular Porous Metal Anchor, which is designed to support osseointegration and help secure the implant in place with naturally occurring bone in-growth.
